The New Colossus Academy Beginning
Our Name:
New Colossus Academy’s vision is to teach the next generation Freedom’s story, so it is only fitting that our name came from the poem on the stone pedestal of the world’s most recognizable symbol of freedom – The Statue of Liberty Our school is a safe haven for the young lives anchored in our harbor, learning to navigate the challenging waters of this life, guided by the shining torch of truth, pointing their moral and spiritual compasses to the golden streets of our eternal shore.
Our Logo
Ships are an important part of our history as they were the means by which the new world was discovered and God’s word spread to distant lands. The three-masted sailing vessel serves as a worthy emblem of our effort to continue this tradition in the hearts and minds of our young sailors. The red rope surrounding the ship represents the scarlet thread that runs from the Garden of Eden to the foot of the Cross, where Jesus became the anchor for our souls.
A Symbolic Connection
A very special ship, sitting in Boston harbor, is the only living artifact linking our nation’s birth to the document upon which our country’s freedoms and way of life are guaranteed. The U.S.S. Constitution, commissioned by our first President George Washington, is the world’s oldest naval vessel still afloat. It is a living testament to the enduring wisdom, ideals and principles upon which our founding fathers framed its namesake, and so it is that our name and logo pay homage to these two iconic symbols of lasting freedom.
